H.A. Brown Receives Keystone Communities Program Grant During School Library Month

We are ecstatic to announce that H.A. Brown is the recipient of a $20,000 Keystone Communities Program Grant for our school library! This was made possible by FHAB members working in coordination with The Head & Hand Bookstore and East Kensington Neighborhood Association. We are extremely thankful to State Representative Mary Isaacson and her team for their support along the way!

This grant will allow H.A. Brown to expand and reinvigorate its current library. Thanks to all who made this happen for our students! Please read the full press release below with details of the grant.

NEW PLAYGROUND COMING SPRING 2021!

A huge thank you to the Lindy family and Fiesta School Yards who will be giving us a new school yard!

Our new yard was designed by the students of HA Brown and will include a grassy hill, 1/2 basketball court, standing musical instruments, seating, and painted games along with several other items that will be placed in our large yard, tranquil garden and kindergarten yard.

Visiting Author Series

"Atoms make up the world." H.A. Brown students talked scientific concepts, folk tales, book making, and art creating today with local author and illustrator, Kara J. Rutledge. Thank you, Kara, for sharing your work and inspiring H.A. Brown's students!

EARTH DAY PLANTING

Thanks to Greensgrow Farms for bringing a beautiful sanctuary garden to H.A. Brown! FHAB volunteers celebrated Earth Day alongside Brown students and staff, our friends at Greensgrow, and volunteers from Subaru of America and Price Water House Coopers to plant calming River Birch trees, succulents, and more in the schoolyard. We also tended to the trees surrounding the school, and cleaned and weeded the neighboring Rainbow Garden. Special thanks to the OIC and Autistic Support students and staff who lent their hands after school during Earth Week for additional digging and planting.
